11th - 14th October sees the celebration of Cornish seafood and the start of the oyster dredging season with the very popular Falmouth Oyster Festival. Now in its fourteenth year the festival host many cooking demonstration by top chefs along with live music and of course lots of free samples!

St Mawes Monopoly · st mawes

St Mawes has become the smallest place in the world to get its own Monopoly board game. Amelia Whitaker, who runs Nearwater B&B and Olga Polizzi of Hotel Tresanton have together created a St Mawes version of the popular game.Deciding which landmarks and properties should feature in the game, which includes a mooring fee as opposed to a super tax and the King Harry ferry replacing Kings Cross station, was not an easy task. However the overriding prerogative was to create a board that reflected the St Mawes we all know and love. The limited edition game will be launched at a family fun event on Easter Monday at the Hotel Tresanton in St Mawes. During the day, a group of local children will compete in a special game of St Mawes Monopoly. The winner will receive a cheque for £2,000, donated by Tresanton's owner, Olga Polizzi, which they can give to a charity of their choice.Boards can be bought and collected from Nearwater next time you are in St Mawes.
