EATING OUT IN ST MAWES

We are almost spoilt for choice when looking for eating establishments in St Mawes and the following are popular with both locals and visitors.

THE VICTORY INN

The Victory Inn, St Mawes, is an extremely popular traditional pub offering fine food and award winning beers. It is the last remaining 'proper' pub in St Mawes. The Victory also has a separate restaurant upstairs with an adjoining outside roof terrace with harbour views.

THE WATCH HOUSE

The Watch House is a relatively new restaurant in St Mawes but one which is fast gaining a reputation for good food in a great atmosphere. There is a comfortable and cosy ground floor dining area and bar with family friendly booths and a light and bright upstairs dining room with views out across the harbour to St Anthony’s head. The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner or, if you fancy a quick bite to eat, the Watch Out take away window serves fresh, local Fish & Chips and a few other nice take away options.

THE RISING SUN

To cater for the discerning tastes of our visitors, the Rising Sun has managed to combine a mixture of both modern and traditional style in an atmosphere of luxury and elegance.

ST MAWES HOTEL

The hub of the hotel is the Café bar. The ground floor bar opens out onto the street in the summer, and lends a feeling that you could be on the French Rivera rather than within the UK. The first floor Restaurant offers a informal atmosphere and fantastic views of St Mawes harbour and Falmouth Bay. Chef Gavin Allen has designed an exciting and modern menu that use the finest and freshest ingredients that have been locally sourced to capture the taste of Cornwall and the sea. Weather permitting allows diners to enjoy our balcony and to take in the superb St Mawes views.

TRESANTON HOTEL

Originally created in the 1940s as a yachtsmen's club, Tresanton is a cluster of old houses on different levels; in the 1950s and 60s it became one of the best-known and best-loved hotels in Cornwall. The Tresanton hotel is a popular venue for wedding receptions and also holds a barbecue on the terraces most Sunday's during the summer period.

THE IDLE ROCKS

Centrally located in the village and forming part of the harbour wall, the Waters Edge restaurant at the Idle Rocks has held 2 AA rosettes for over 16 years, making it the perfect place to sit back and relax.

CAFE CHANDLERS

Right on the harbourside, Cafe Chandlers is a very stylish deli in the heart of St. Mawes. Great coffee, wines by the glass and a short but sound menu. Good for breakfasts - croissant pastries etc - and to sit and watch the boats in the harbour.

DELI-CIOUS

A super little deli that specialises in freshly prepared take away sandwiches.
