St Mawes Events

Being a very old fishing village, many of the village activities are, as you might expect, centred around the water. Undoubtedly the most spectacular events involve the Falmouth working boats. These are derived from boats that used to work in the area, indeed some still work dredging for oysters under sail in the estuary (this is a conservation measure). With their brightly coloured topsails these powerful boats are enthusiastically and very competitively raced all through the summer. Do not miss these races if you have the chance to watch them.
The village holds a good number of social events including:- The Working Boat Championships, the Town Regatta, the Social Club Regatta, the Shoreside event, and the Fish Festival. There is a music festival each year organised by the Hotel Tresanton that attracts internationally known musicians.
St Mawes is known locally as being a very sociable village, and you will always find a friendly and welcoming group of people to help you get involved.
