Pengerein has some of the best views in the old fishing village of Portscatho and is conveniently situated next to the South West coast path about four minutes walk from the village square and about ten minutes from Portcurnick Beach and the Hidden Hut. Portscatho has a good range of facilities including post office, butchers, convenience store with bakery attached, pub, restaurant and art gallery. Porthcurnick with its popular sandy beach is less than 10 minutes walk away.
Steps lead down from the off road parking space to the front door. A small hall takes you through to the kitchen/diner with dishwasher, freezer, washing machine, clothes dryer, electric oven and hob, fridge and microwave. The dining table and chairs take four persons easily. Walk through to the lounge with super sea views across Gerrans Bay to Gull Rock, Nare Head and Dodman Point and almost to Plymouth on a clear day. Comfortable furniture TV & DVD and music centre make for a relaxing room. There are some jigsaws and games in the property.
Stairs from the hall lead to the two bedrooms, one double with ensuite bath & WC and lovely sea views, the other twin with ensuite shower & WC. Linen and towels are now included at this property. You will need to bring your own beach towels.
Pengerein has panel heaters throughout.
A patio with garden furniture, barbecue and views of Gerrans Bay and over Portscatho's harbour is a great place to unwind.
There is off road parking for one car.
"Both of us exclaimed the same word when we walked into Pengerein: Wow! It didn't only apply to the wonderful view of Gerrens Bay facing us through the living window - Nare Head, Gull Rock and Portcurnick Beach to the left of us, the pretty harbour of Portscatho to the right. It could easily have been extracted by the inside of the house, which might have been newly prepared for a photo-shoot by Good Housekeeping. Tastefully decorated, clean and invitingly luxurious. The kitchen was well equipped (we are used to taking extra luxuries we didn't need here) and spacious. The lounge not only had that view but was comforting in a way which made it easy to just sit and admire it. There were also a well stacked cabinet with lots of books to get lost in if you were inclined to sit out on the front patio as well as games and puzzles. The bedrooms were also very comfortable and it was useful to have two bathrooms. Parking is at the top of a narrow passage giving direct access to a road which wasn't too busy to make getting in or out a problem. The shop and pub is four minutes walk away (we timed it) and the South West Coast path runs past the front gate! If you are looking for an alternative to the pricey (indeed slightly fleecy) Plume of Feathers a pizza van and a fish & chips van stop yards from the house on Wednesday and Fridays. We would also recommend the very welcoming Harbour Club for cheap drinks and atmosphere (we had a great evening with the locals at their well attended open mike night) and the excellent coffee and cakes served by the Hidden Hut and Tatums. We very rarely go back to the same place as there are so many places in Cornwall to visit. But we'd love to return here. PS: the service of Portscatho Holidays was also first class."

"We have stayed at Pengerein several times and it has always been really enjoyable. We like walking so its location is ideal for the cost path and St Anthonys Head. You can walk to Place ferry for St Mawes and then on to Falmouth. Usually a fish and chip van on one day just up the road (not this year} and there is also a pizza van on Wednesday which is excellent. Will be booking again."
"This property, on the coastal path, is in a super location. Property was spotless and well maintained inside and out. Excellent amenities. Ideal for a couple or small family. Ideal location for coastal walks, the village, the beaches, the pub and the 'Hidden Hut'. Highly recommend."
