"We had a great week in Spry's cottage. The cottage is centrally located, ideal for beach, shops etc. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything one could need during a week in St Mawes. The three bedrooms were all a good size, with sufficient storage. We were fortunate to have lovely weather, and the garden was great for sitting out in, to catch the evening sun. I wouldn't describe the cottage as smart, but it was perfect for a family and dog!"
A number of positives but very expensive considering its condition.
"Although there are quite a few positive things about Spry Cottage ie great location, parking, good patio/garden, comfortable beds, dog friendly, we felt it looked very tired and old fashioned and the garden was very uncared for. A proper shower over the 'apricot' bath would be lovely. The blind in the bathroom was broken which I did report to Portscatho. Also the sitting room furniture, although fairly comfortable, was very dark and tired looking - not a particularly pleasant place to sit. Very good kitchen and equipment. The steps down to Hill Head were blocked by items for the Charity Shop and 3 occasions. All in all a cottage with great potential but very expensive when considering its condition. We have stayed in several other properties in St Mawes over the years so are in a position to compare. I would recommend to others if the cottage was updated. Hope this is helpful. Jane Wood "
Centrally located cottage in beautiful St Mawes.
"Roomy traditional Cornish cottage in central location, with a glimpse of the harbour from the patio. If I could say anything negative, it would be that paint work in some of the rooms, needs freshening up. Also, the cottage would look more welcoming if there were flowers in the troughs by the front door, instead of weeds. This also applies to the back garden, where numerous terracotta pots were the same. Apart from this, the garden is a nice size, though quite steep, with a raised patio where we ate our meals as it had the sun most of the day. We were very lucky with the weather, as it was the heatwave week. The open plan kitchen, diner is a nice part of the cottage with lots of room and kitchen overlooks the garden. Very handy having 2 bathrooms; 1 upstairs & 1 downstairs. Also, the car space is an added advantage. Overall, we liked this cottage and loved St Mawes."
