5 Golf Courses for your Roseland holiday

Posted 7 December 2018 by Beverley Fuller

Golfers staying in our Roseland holiday cottages have plenty of opportunities for a sporting day out. Whether you're with a couple of friends or a group, or grabbing a quiet golfing day to yourself – there's plenty here to occupy the rest of the family – you'll find a welcoming course with great views.

One of the closest to the Roseland is Truro Golf Club at Treliske, a friendly place with an 18-hole course that's ideal for visitors to Cornwall. There's a putting green and practice area, you can book lessons with a PGA professional and there's ample parking. It's set in lovely mature parkland that's gently undulating so quite easy to walk round, though never dull - you'll find some surprises - but if you need a buggy do book ahead.

Just a few miles from the most southerly point on the British mainland, and an easy drive from your South Cornwall seaside cottage, is Mullion Golf Course, which prides itself on being a Community Amateur Sports Club. With 18 holes and fantastic sea views from the clifftop tees it suits all handicaps, but don't forget to factor-in the wind – it'll test your accuracy! Its greens are in play year-round.

Whether you play as an individual or bring a party, Porthpean Golf Club is a welcoming and quite challenging prospect. With nine holes in parkland and nine overlooking St Austell Bay you even get a choice of scenery! Non-golfers are welcome to relax in the clubhouse, where 'cream tees' and bar meals are available, all with a lovely view.

St Austell Golf Club at Tregongeeves, just off the A390, is also easy to reach from your South Cornwall holiday cottage. The 18-hole parkland course has lovely country views; there's even a state-of-the-art teaching studio where you can hit straight out the door to the driving range. With men's, ladies', mixed, senior and junior sections, visitors are made very welcome.

The championship course at Perranporth welcomes visitors and makes a lovely day out from South Cornwall. With fabulous views along the Cornish coast it's close to both beach and town and claims some of the finest links in Southwest England – and there's only one way to verify that! Book early if you need to hire a buggy.
