This week it was announced that organisers of the Falmouth to Royal Greenwich Tall Ships Regatta have elected the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) as their chosen charity for the 2014 event in Falmouth.
The regatta takes place in Falmouth from August 28th- 31st and is expected to attract around 100,000 visitors who will be staying in dog friendly cottages in Cornwall (for those who decide to bring their pets), hotels and other forms of local accommodation around the Falmouth area.
The Tall Ships event will start in Falmouth and travel along the south coast to the Isle of Wight and will then sail up the River Thames to the finish at Royal Greenwich.
Following the announcement that the RNLI will be the chosen charity for the Tall Ships event, Guy Botterill, RNLI Community Fundraising Manager for Cornwall, said, “The RNLI are extremely proud to be the nominated charity for what promises to be a spectacular event in Falmouth and look forward to an exciting four days of festivities before the trainees set sail to the Isle of Wight.”
