Television presenting duo and star couple Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan, or as they are better known in the public eye – Richard and Judy, have been singing Cornwall and Devon’s praises in a recent interview. The pair, who have been coming to the south west for family holidays for a number of years, have described Cornwall as their ‘spiritual home’, where they often feel more comfortable than when they are in the north where they are based.
While families have been enjoying south Cornwall cottage holidays for years, Richard and Judy decided to make their holidays to the area more regular when they purchased a property in Looe, Cornwall in 1998. Since this time they have enjoyed many holidays in the area together as a family, becoming established members of the local community.
‘The Roseland Peninsular is beautiful’
While Richard and Judy have a property in Looe, they have spent a lot of time exploring the south Cornwall coast, enjoying all the beauty that it has to offer. When talking about their favourite places to visit in this interview, Finnigan said, “the Roseland Peninsular is beautiful and we love St Mawes and Falmouth.”
It would seem that those who visit the southern county on short breaks this summer in St Mawes holiday cottages may even be in with a chance of seeing the famed couple as they love nothing more than getting involved with the local community. Having spent many summers in the area they now feel a welcome addition to local communities, with Madeley saying, “I feel very privileged to have been accepted by the community and it’s the very least we can do to support local charities and activities.”
Richard and Judy’s love affair with Cornwall is nothing new, but perhaps they may persuade a few more families to experience that “special feeling that creeps into your very bones” when you come to Cornwall.
